Lyons DDA Receives Loan for Renovation of Downtown BuildingHome | Success Stories | Archived | This story The Lyons Downtown Development Authority received a low-interest loan to assist in the renovation of the historic Pal Theater located at 121 N. State Street in downtown Lyons from the Georgia Cities Foundation, a non-profit subsidiary of the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA). The estimated renovation cost of the theater is $165,050. The Foundation has committed $50,000 for this project. Peoples Bank in Lyons is also providing funding for the project. This is the third of several Foundation loans to close. Through public-private partnerships, the Foundation facilitates the redevelopment and reuse of downtown areas throughout Georgia. The Foundation provides funding for capital projects, technical assistance, training for economic development professionals and development of marketing programs. "We're pleased the Foundation could be a partner in this project," said Foundation President Mike Starr. "Through projects such as this, we hope to have a positive impact on Georgia's downtowns and be a partner in creating viable downtowns where people go to shop, work and live."
