Savannah's 250-year old system of downtown green space is still unsurpassed in Georgia. Georgia's state tree, the live oak, not only provide shade in the hot summer months, they also enhance the downtown area and encourage visitors and residents to walk by local shops and restaurants. In recent years Savannah has added even more small parks in the city. Below is a map of Savannah's park system, the green squares indicate plazas, parks or tree lined streets within the city.
